Christ Church Cathedral hosts a party to celebrate the Scottish bard featuring festive music, country dancing, and a sampling of Scottish treats

This Robert Burns’ Day (January 25), Christ Church Cathedral invites you to join in a lively celebration of Scotland’s national bard with performances by the Cathedral Choir and the Vancouver Island Scottish Country Dance Society.

The evening, hosted by former broadcaster Ian Alexander, also features readings and reflections on Robert Burns, a hybrid silent auction with generous donations from local businesses, as well as some traditional Burns Night elements including a piper, whisky tasting, and other Scottish delicacies. You’ll also want to bring your singing voice for the rousing chorus of “Auld Lang Syne!”

This unique event will support Christ Church Cathedral’s Young Choristers and Choral Scholars as they raise funds to support their 2023 tour to the United Kingdom which will feature choral residencies at Westminster Abbey, St George’s Chapel, Windsor, and St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh.

Tickets for the event ($50) are available through Eventbrite. More information on the Cathedral Choir’s 2023 tour to the United Kingdom can be found here.
