Christ Church Cathedral celebrates music’s patron saint with an all-day open house on Saturday November 20 featuring a delightfully surprising array of Victoria performers filling the vast vaulted space with breathtaking music. The day will appeal to lovers of music, with something for virtually everyone!

The uplifting cathedral bells peal forth to herald the start of the day at 9am. Other performers making appearances include New York-based cellist Rufus Cappadocia, the Victoria Accordion Club, UVic piano students, and the Cathedral Choirs, who are planning a trip to the UK in July of 2022. Appearances from Cookeilidh and the Dancehall Players round off the musical performances, and the day is brought to a close with an Evensong service in honour of St Cecilia.

“I look forward to this day every year” said Director of Music Donald Hunt, “The cathedral aspires to be a centre for musical excellence, as well as a place that is radically welcoming to all. This meeting of these two aspirations is truly made manifest on St Cecilia’s Day.”

A selection of baked goods, preserves, and handicrafts will also be available for sale inside the cathedral, the proceeds of which also benefit the choir tour fund.

This event will also stream online on our website
