Herb & Paula O'Driscoll are dear to the hearts of many Christians in Canada. “Herb” O’Driscoll is a former parish priest and cathedral dean, internationally renowned conference and pilgrimage leader, hymnodist and storyteller, and author of over fifty books, who continues to write and speak prolifically and eloquently at age 93. Perhaps above all, he is a great preacher and teacher of preaching, who has spent a lifetime showing how the stories and traditions of our faith speak eloquently to contemporary concerns, and mentoring others to do the same.

Now there is an opportunity for those whose lives Herb and Paula have touched over a lifetime of ministry, to honour their ministry by participating in an international fundraising campaign for The O'Driscoll Forum.

This forum would be an annual gathering bringing globally distinguished teachers and practitioners of preaching, teaching and the liturgical arts to the Vancouver School of Theology's campus for several days to give public lectures and sharing their experiences with a group of aspiring young practitioners of these skills, in a collegial “master class” format. The initiative to bring this forum to fruition has already garnered $200,000 in donations in its first phase.

We are excited to support this initiative by sharing that a fundraiser for the O'Driscoll Forum will occur on May 31 at 4pm online HERE

The online launch of the forum is a fundraising event. The hope is to raise a permanent endowment of at least $300,000 to fund the annual multi-day in person O'Driscoll Forum at the Vancouver School of Theology, focused around "preaching, teaching and the liturgical arts." The online event will bring together distinguished practitioners of these arts with aspiring younger clergy and laity in a professionally produced online TV show, featuring Herb O'Driscoll, a panel of guests, and video contributions from across North America (inlcuding from our own Bishop as well as Bishop John from Vancouver and the Primate). The Cathedral Choir will join to sing a couple of Herb's hymns.

Join us for the launch and fundraiser:

Date: Tuesday, May 31st, at 4pm (PT) / 5pm (MT) / 7pm (ET)
