In response to the BC provincial health officer’s extension of the November 19 order, the Diocese of British Columbia is extending the suspension of all in-person public worship and community gatherings until at least January 10. At the cathedral, this means that we will continue to livestream our services without an in-person congregation, and both indoor and outdoor in-person events and meetings are cancelled or postponed. See below for further information on these temporary changes.

Services

Sunday services are currently livestreamed online without an in-person congregation. We will continue to offer two services each Sunday, a Liturgy of the Word at 10.30 am and Choral Evensong at 4.00 pm. Both services will be livestreamed on our website and Facebook page. An online “coffee hour” on the Zoom video meeting platform will follow the 10.30 am service. Links to the coffee hour meeting link can be found on the Events page on the website. Regrettably, the Tuesday morning prayer service and cathedral visiting hours are suspended until further notice.

An Important Note Regarding Christmas

We regrettably must put some of our planned Christmas offerings on hold. Christmas Reimagined, an outdoor projection of the Christmas story will be postponed until next year and all in-person Christmas services and gatherings are cancelled.  We will continue to celebrate Christmas with several pre-recorded and livestreamed services in the days leading up to Christmas Day. The 4.00 pm performance is cancelled. The 7.30 pm performance will be a livestream event with no in-person audience. Ticket holders can also donate the proceeds of their ticket to support the performers and the music program at Christ Church Cathedral.

Visiting the Cathedral Offices

The Cathedral Offices remain open but those staff who can work from home have been encouraged to do so. While there will often be someone working on site at the cathedral offices, it will be safest to call ahead before dropping by (250-383-2714). Please note that masks are now required in all indoor public spaces on the cathedral precinct.

The Cathedral Offices will be closed for the Christmas break from December 24, 2020 at 12.00pm until January 4, 2021 at 9.00am. For pastoral emergencies, contact 250.516.9844 or pastoralcare@christchurchcathedral.bc.ca
