Being a church open for prayer and meditation and being a welcoming refuge for visitors are both important features of the ministry of Christ Church Cathedral.  In the present age, this means having volunteers on hand, both to serve the needs of visitors by way of welcome and information, and to provide a measure of security for the Church.  Many members of Christ Church Cathedral parish and other parishes within the Diocese of British Columbia currently volunteer as Stewards of the Cathedral, permitting the church to be open through weekdays and weekends.

Stewards are frequently the first public faces of the Cathedral - welcoming visitors to our church community and providing information about the various ministries of Christ Church Cathedral.

Welcoming Stewards at Christ Church Cathedral have two major responsibilities:

To welcome all visitors

To provide information about the Cathedral and ministries

Our goal is to have Stewards available throughout each day to welcome visitors and indicate how the community of Christ Church Cathedral can be part of their lives.  Additionally, we strive to have teams of two Stewards, available in shifts of approximately two hours per week, to interact with visitors as they explore our faith community.

In order to achieve this goal, we need additional volunteers to serve as Stewards for a shift of approximately two hours per week.  We welcome members of not only this parish, but those who may worship elsewhere in the diocese.  Training and mentorship will be provided.  We invite you to consider joining with us in this exciting ministry.
