The internationally-acclaimed Gesualdo Six present a program of English music on their North American tour. There will even be some special guest appearances from our own Cathedral Choir members and Young Choristers as they prepare for a trip to the UK.

Christ Church Cathedral is arguably the best place in Victoria to hear excellent choral singing. On February 11, the Cathedral Choir and our Young Choristers will be joined by the internationally renowned vocal group, the Gesualdo Six, led by conductor Owain Park. They will sing a program exploring Renaissances masterpieces from the Golden Age of polyphony in England, including works by William Byrd, who’s 400th anniversary is being marked in 2023.

This is the second time this wonderful group has visited Victoria. In 2018, about five-hundred lucky listeners flocked to the cathedral to hear them. They impressed with their beautifully blended tone, their impeccable tuning, and their ability to engage with the audience and bring listeners on a musical journey.

As this is a fundraiser for the Cathedral Choirs’ trip to the UK in 2023, there are a variety of ticketing options available. A standard ticket is $35. For $90, we’ll save you a seat up front and issue you with a $50 charitable receipt. For $150, you’ll receive a seat up front, a charitable receipt for $100, plus admission to a champagne reception with the artists. As with all concerts at the cathedral, there are also student tickets available for $10. We have almost achieved our goal of securing enough money to make it possible for even our singers of low financial means to join this tour -- this concert is part of the final push!

This concert is generously sponsored by Dr. James Burchill.
