Christ Church Cathedral and the Emily Carr String Quartet are pleased to announce Portraits, a lineup of in-person concerts this fall at the cathedral. The Emily Carr String Quartet, now in its 15th Season, will present such musical masterpieces as Schubert's Death and the Maiden, Shostakovich 8th Quartet, Brahms Clarinet Quintet and contemporary works by Caroline Shaw and Jared Miller.

The first of Ludwig van Beethoven’s middle quartets is the String Quartet no. 7 in F major. This giant celebrates his 250th birthday in December this year. With this set, he pushed the genre’s norms of scale and emotion even further. We’ll also hear selections from Antonin Dvorak’s Cypresses. This collection of string quartet versions of his love songs began their pre-musical lives in poet Gustav Pfleger-Moravsky's anthology bearing the same name.
