We warmly invite you to join our upcoming Creationtide series 'Franciscan and Creation Spirituality' presented by The Rev'd Canon Bill Tarter, CFC (Community of Francis and Clare).
This five-part series will begin on Saturday September 5, and the sessions will take place between 1-2:30pm in the Chapter Room of the cathedral. The sessions are free to attend, and all are most welcome.
During this series, we will take a deeper dive into the Franciscan tradition, including works from St. Francis, St. Bonaventure, and philosopher Duns Scotus. These writings will be aligned with various passages from Scripture.
The central focus of this series is that creation is a sacred member of God's family. Indeed, Francis starts us on this journey as he writes, 'Praise be You, my Lord, with all your creatures especially Sir Brother Sun...'. We hope this series will continue to develop a respect and honour for God's creation - our sisters and brothers who by their existence are vestiges of God's presence.
The series will be on Saturdays from 1-2:30pm as follows:
September 5: The Book of Nature
September 12: Brother Sun, Sister Moon
September 19: Vestiges of God
September 26: Unique and Particular beings of creation
October 3: Groaning and the Glory of God
