The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is a service just before Christmas celebrating the birth of Jesus. The story is told in nine short Bible readings interspersed with wonderful Christmas carols and well-known hymns. Readers this year include the Times Colonist’s Jack Knox and Richard Watts and CBC Radio host Gregor Craigie. The most famous service is at King's College, Cambridge, which has been holding the service since 1918. The service has been broadcast by the BBC annually since 1928.
