PLEDGE CARD

A letter from Dean Jonathan and Vicar Anna

In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? – John 14:2-3

Dear Friends in Christ,

Jesus said, “In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places.” This promise of abundance and welcome lies at the heart of our stewardship theme: Setting a Place at the Table. These words remind us that God’s invitation is radical and generous. As the old spiritual says, there is “plenty good room” in God’s household for each of us.

This year’s stewardship theme invites us to recognize the abundance God has already entrusted to us. Even in uncertain times, we are called to trust that there is enough: enough for our families, enough for our church, enough for our neighbours. There is enough space around God’s table for all, and sufficient food to fill each one if we trust and share.

One way we live into this truth is by sharing our resources – our money, our time, and our talents – for the mission and ministry of this congregation. These gifts support worship that lifts our hearts, teaching that shapes disciples, fellowship that strengthens our bonds, and outreach that embodies Christ’s love.

We have already begun to see the first fruits of this work together - how when we communicate our message of good news people respond, when we invite people into this space they stay and join the community, and when we teach people the love of God they reflect it in the world. Over the coming weeks, you will hear from faithful members of this community, both new and old, about how they found their place here and how the gifts of this community made it a home for them. Today I simply ask you to begin praying with this theme, reflecting on the resources God has placed in your care, and considering how you might share them joyfully in the year ahead.

Stewardship is our faithful response to God’s generosity. It is gratitude put into action. Together, let us rejoice that there is a place prepared for us in God’s house, and work toward setting the place for each of our neighbours called to belong here as well.

Faithfully,

The Very Reverend Jonathan Thomas,                                            The Reverend Anna E. Rossi
