7.00 pm Tenebrae - The name of this service literally means "shadows." It is sung almost entirely to Renaissance polyphony while candles are gradually extinguished. A loud sound towards the end symbolizes the earthquake when Jesus finally gave up the ghost. This is one of the more experiential services in Holy Week.
