Have you heard Victoria’s hidden musical gem? Experience the power of 4,000 pipes played expertly by virtuoso musician Aaron Tan at Christ Church Cathedral (Quadra at Courtney)

Tickets $20 / $10 students on Eventbrite

Winner of the 2021 Canadian International Organ competition, and the 2018 American Guild of Organists National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance, Aaron Tan is one of North America’s leading young artists.  He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester New York where he studies with David Higgs.   Originally from the Philippines and Canada, Aaron also holds Master of Music and Master of Musical Arts degrees from Yale University, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan.

“From the beginning of the recital, one sensed Tan’s ability to render the music’s essence, never distorting it to create an effect. It comes down to understanding the music one plays and Tan honours the music so well in this way.”

Gilles Leclerc, Pipelines (Ottawa RCCO Centre newsletter), January 2023

“Aaron Tan seemed to place himself in another league.  His technical assurance was complete.  The variety off his interpretative skill just continued to unfold into the most engaging performance I have witnessed in a long time.”

Matthew Power, Choir & Organ, Jan/Feb 2022

“… equally impressive in technique and aesthetics … Tan’s easy virtuosity even in the face of crazy textures … was a marvel to behold … Tan made a deep exploration of the colors of the organ and registered the music with fine attention to volume contrasts.”, February 2019
