Christ Church Cathedral and the Lafayette String Quartet are delighted to announce their first collaboration: An all-classical program featuring Franz Joseph Haydn’s “Sunrise” Quartet in B-flat major and Mozart’s Quartet in D minor. Formed in 1986 in Detroit, the Lafayette String Quartet still comprises its four original female members, a distinct and welcome rarity in the classical music world. Now closely allied with the University of Victoria’s School of Music, the quartet has also performed widely in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Europe.

The 60-minute concert will make use of Christ Church Cathedral’s soon-to-be-inaugerated 6-camera livestream system, giving the at-home audience both birds’ eye and closeup views as these skilled musicians share their craft. Donations will be gratefully accepted and split between Christ Church Cathedral’s Music Fund and the UVic School of Music.
