Choral and Organ Scholarships

Choral Scholars

Christ Church Cathedral awards a number of choral scholarships to talented and enthusiastic singers each academic year.  We engage individuals with a love of (or curiosity about) Anglican choral music, a willingness to come prepared and to work hard to build on an already strong music program. Choral scholarships are aimed at, but not limited to, students enrolled in graduate and postgraduate university degrees and are designed to be compatible with the commitments of these programs.

The Choral Scholars for 2017/18 are as follows:

Soprano:

Jessica Wagner is a Masters’ Voice student at U Vic and comes from Alberta. She is studying with Benjamin Butterfield and is also an accomplished pianist and a Teaching Assistant at the University.

Alto:

Heidi Worrell returns for a second year with us, and continues her studies in Music Education.

Cassidy Stahr is a second year music student at UVic and comes from Port Coquitlam, BC. She studies voice with Susan Young.

Tenor:

Joé Lampron-Dandonneau joins us for a second year. Joé is originally from Montreal, and continues his Master’s degree in voice with Benjamin Butterfield.

Adam Schmidt returns to the Cathedral Choir, and is continuing his studies with Nancy Argenta.

Carson Moore joins us and U Vic for his first year of a BMus in voice. He hails from Calgary, where he’s been singing for the past 3 years. Last year he sang in the Spiritus chamber choir.

Bass:

Daniel McCrae returns for a 3rd year at the cathedral after a brief hiatus. He is not only a talented choral singer, but also an electrical engineer.

William Constable continues with the choir and continues his studies with the aim of becoming an operatic bass. He also has advanced training as a clarinetist.
