Our 9:15am Contemporary Holy Eucharist is the place to be for kids!
Our children's ministry, Growing Together, begins in the Nave with a Children's Focus that often involves puppets, surprises and visits from special friends.
At any time during the service, toddlers 1-3 years old are welcome to enjoy the nursery in the South wing (main level) with our Early Childhood Educator, Michelle. There is a soft space at the back of the Nave for babies and their caregivers.
After the Children's Focus, the children head upstairs to the beautiful Chapel of the New Jerusalem (CNJ) for a gathering time and sing-along with our Music Director Michael Gormley. Our gathering time often involves a special ritual focusing on the liturgical season of the year.
After gathering time, the children are separated into groups based on age:
4- and 5-year-olds join Brenda for playtime, stories and crafts.
Kids in Grade 1-2 meet with Liz and/or Elena for stories and learning.
Kids in Grade 3-4 participate in Bible exploration with Marcia and Gail.
Kids in Grade 5 meet with Ruth for discussion, reading and project planning.
We use the Seasons of the Spirit curriculum to give the children an opportunity to reflect on and respond to the Sunday reading in an age-appropriate way. They may play games, sing songs, and do crafts.
After Growing Together, the children join their families in time for the Holy Eucharist.
