Meet Kate Newman

Kate Newman, our new Coordinator of Children's, Youth and Family Ministry arrived in July 2016. She is currently developing new programs and special events for the fall.

Please stay tuned! Info and updates will be posted here as they become available. In the meantime--meet Kate!

KateNewmanKate Newman has been teaching faith and arts to children for 15 years. She is the principal developer for the Anglican Church of Canada's Arts-Integration Children’s Curriculum, Compendium of the Church Mice. She has a Masters of Education from UBC and wrote her final comprehensive exams for a Masters of Theological Studies at VST the week before she started here! A native of Vancouver, for the past 22 years Kate spent a lot of time creating live theatre and has also toured across the country doing Shakespeare. She is happy to be moving back to Victoria; she was baptized and confirmed right here at Christ Church Cathedral. She is also a mother of nine-year-old Moses. Whew!

Kate will be coordinating and developing programs for children youth and families here at Christ Church. Kate enjoys working collaboratively, using the arts as outreach and as a means of understanding children’s perspective on the Gospel. You may see Kate with a note pad at coffee hour. Come for a friendly smile and to share your insights on children youth and families here. “Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you." Matthew 7:7
