Other Ways of Giving to the Cathedral

  • This is the regular, grateful giving back to God during one’s lifetime. There are several ways to do this depending upon individual preference: envelopes provided by the church, direct debit from one’s bank account, or by credit card. The donor decides the frequency of the gift: weekly, monthly or to some other schedule. Automated giving (direct debit or credit card) has the advantage that one's gift makes it to church even when one is not able to attend in person. This is extremely helpful to the church in managing its cash flow.

Outreach: In addition to the set of weekly envelopes available from the office, CCC ministries include a monthly gift to 12 charitable causes chosen annually by parishioners.  Click here to see the list for 2012.

  • This method involves giving from one’s accumulated assets. This is most often done during estate planning for the disposition of assets after one’s death, but there are also options from which to choose that come into force during one’s lifetime. Please pick up a brochure at the west end of the cathedral or ask at the office.

Legacy Circle:  At Christ Church Cathedral, Victoria, the Legacy Circle is comprised of persons who have made a planned gift to CCC.  Benefits include reserved seating for concerts and major services during the year. Each year during the financial stewardship campaign, usually in the fall, the pledge card invites parishioners to list their name as a planned giver and thus join the Legacy Circle.

  • When there is a death in a Cathedral family or a funeral is booked at CCC, the cleric handling the lead pastoral role invites the surviving family member(s) to consider a memorial gift to CCC. If there are no survivors, the invitation is made to the executor, if known. Depending on the interests of the deceased and the family, memorial gifts may be dedicated or not, that is to say given for some particular purpose, or left to the discretion of the Dean and wardens.

  • Victoria, BC, is a popular year-round tourist destination, so CCC receives thousands of visitors annually from a variety of countries. Most of our visitors are passing through briefly on vacation, but some of them are Canadian “snowbirds” spending a longer period of time in Victoria to escape a harsh winter somewhere east of the Rockies.

The Friends of CCC program is designed mainly for people who wish to support CCC Victoria but who don’t live in our city. Newfoundland has an acronym for such folk, namely PFA—“people from away.” In fact one can  become a Friend of CCC regardless of where one lives and regardless of church membership or not. Friends receive newsletters, announcements, program information and reserved seating for concerts.

To become a Friend of CCC one can pay the fee for either annual or lifetime membership; pick up the form at the rear of the Cathedral or from the Deanery office.
